Pattern:  Burda 10/2012 #121B
Sizing:  40 at the waist to 44 for hips
Fabric:  wool; polyester lining
Notions:  invisible zipper
Assembly time:  a day--even with tracing the pattern
Instructions:  blah
Modification:  lining
Recommend:  surprisingly yes, but use Burda Style America since seam allowances are already included

I fell in love with Burda Style October 2012 the moment I first peaked inside the magazine issue.  To this day, I want nearly every garment included in that publication but have always been intimidated by the awkwardness of tracing the pattern, adding the seam allowance, and trying to figure out the instructions.  That is until now.  I tackled Burda with a vengeance and am very happy with the results.

Burda 10/2012 #121B is a quick sew skirt.  The pockets are a trick, which is surely evident in the pictures.  That aside, it is really easy to put together.  The vision was to have a loose fitting wool skirt that could be pair with tights and boots for the cooler weather (which never came this winter).

The wool comes from a very large scrap from the jacket, Bringing Blazer Heat {Simplicity 3628}.  It was a great choice despite the necessity to have a lining, which is not included in the pattern.  Like all things Burda, I fudged my way through, and like the results.

Will I do it again, nope.  However, after the fact, I have found different ways to approach the project, like using the Burda Style America magazine, since it has seam allowance added, or redraft the pattern to make the pockets less complicated (like here).
