Presenting the first official post of SEW HANDMADE. I hope you found encouragement to visit me through my recently retired site, So Little Time. I started that blog three years ago with a vague idea about what I wanted to write about, but I knew it was to be a blog about creating. About a year ago I finally made the commitment to solely document my sewing pursuits. That is about the same time the blog name started to wear on me. So Little Time just didn't seem to be appropriate. The name didn't fit any more. The biggest problem being SEWING TAKES TIME! So after a period of indecision, I decided it was time for a new blog name and with that a new blog address.
At the start of my blogging experience, I was truly reluctant to post any of my sewing creations; however, as my blog migrating towards sewing, I become a little more at ease about saying, "yes, I made this" and "thank you" when someone compliments me on my handmade clothes. While, I am NOT into the latest fashion or claim to know anything about fashion, my goal is to create clothing that is reflective of me and, of course, uniquely beautiful.
Handmade clothes have always been part of my wardrobe, though in my teenage years I strayed away from the notion---as teenagers tend to ridicule others for wearing homemade things. These days, I wear my handmade clothes more and more often; and the more I wear my creations, the better my skills are becoming. My wish is to encourage everyone to try sewing and making handmade items. From my own experience, it only takes practice, patients, will, and time. Welcome, and please feel free to comment, email, or just browse.
I'm happy to follow in your new space!! I've been wanting to change my blog name too. In time. In time.
ReplyDeleteThe Sew Crafty Chemist (http://sewcraftychemist.blogspot.com/) title is what drew me to your blog, so I really like the name. I tend to be analytical so when I saw the word "chemist" I wanted to read more. Since I have been following you for so long though, you certainly are the most sew-ciable (sociable) stitcher I have ever come across and I can see you wanting something spunkier. Regardless, I want to see everything you make wherever you are. I love your latest jeans; they fit so well. Thanks for following. It's flattering.
DeleteHi there. Congratulations on your new space. I haven't been doing much sewing lately, but I do enjoy coming to your site and checking out what you're doing, Your blog is one of the few I follow for ideas and instruction. I look forward to more of your inspiring posts.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much!
DeleteI try to focus on detailing the construction of the garment, because it is something I really want to improve upon with each project. Some of my favorite blogs focus on historical sewing, which tend to offer details on techniques.
You are so sweet, and I appreciate your comments. Happy Stitching for now and always.
