Recommend: it's a great basic shirt pattern
Here is the first post for my Building an Every Day Outfit series. I am taking one pattern (Simplicity 2599) and making as many shirts I can to boost my wardrobe during the month of May. While the pattern envelope displays great ways to use ruffles, I choose to start with the basic shirt.

Picking the right size is easy. The pattern offers the choice of bust sizing. I picked the C version which has a finished bust measurement of 38.5 inches for the size 10. I made no adjustments to the pattern and sewed according to the directions. Except....
Originally, this fabric was slated for a dress, but I change my mind when I realized the flowers where sheer. I knew it would be a better option for a summer shirt. French seams were used to tidy the inside up. I top-stitched the neck lining into place and embellished other seams with stitching too.
