I am going to start by saying that the pants did end up looking like the modeled version; however, there are issues that may have been “fixed” for the photo shoot. First, the calf is large and not fitted like pictured on the envelope. For the medium size, the finished garment measures 16 inches mid-calf. Another issue is the cuff. With the ponte fabric, it weighs so much that it just doesn’t look right and more importantly feel right. If you can relate, it feels like ankle weights that are worn during a workout routine. Besides that, there is the back ruche on the calf which is totally unnecessary. I don’t even understand the concept. Is the pant supposed to be shorter in the back than the front? Though a lovely detail, I see no reason for the extra embellishment.
There are good points too. I like the front paneling and top stitching. Originally, I thought these would be great as pseudo riding pants. I still think they can work. For this pair though, I am just going to deal with the fact that these pants are not form fitting. Secondly, I am going to remove the cuff and reduced the length of the back---sans ruche. They will be nice to workout in and I do think it was worth the time spent.
Side note: These pants look the same on the hanger as they look on me, slouchy.
