This shirt review is part of a larger collection that features sportswear. I am so thrilled with how well it turned out that I look forward to trying some of the other pieces.
Pattern: McCall's 4261
Sizing: medium (36” bust ease)
Fabric: ribbed knit, heavy weight
Assembly time: 2 hrs
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are fine, but the pictures work just as well. The pattern has three pieces, so everything is self-explanatory. Basting is recommended for the hems, but I neglected this step as it would have consumed time for no great purpose--at least for this project.
Modification: The directions say to use a 1 1/4" hem for the waist. I prefer longer shirts and instead of lengthening the bodice, I reduced the hem to 5/8”. Doing this resulted in the perfect length. I also added a tag to mark the rear of the shirt.
Would you recommend it to others? yes
Would you sew it again? YES! Love the fit. It is the best fitting t-shirt in my closet. I will definitely make more of these shirts. Three things that make this perfect: length ends at hip bone, shoulder seams ends at shoulder bone, and not too tight but not too loose.
