The idea of this skirt has been nagging at me since I finished my Lonsdale dress only weeks ago.  While I love the dress, with the knotted halter neckline, I was attracted to the bottom half.  As drafted, the pattern incorporates a full circle skirt, with charming pockets and a slim waist band. Transforming the dress into a separated is easy and uncomplicated.

The first step is to ignore anything to do with making the bodice.  That entails cutting only pieces 3 (skirt front), 4 (skirt back), 5 (pocket), and 6 (waistband).  Starting at step 8, from the instruction sheet, continue to follow the directions until it comes time to attach the bodice to the skirt, which is step 12. From here, the waistband needs to be attached to the skirt.  Take the waistband pieces (one section should be interfaced) and stitch together along the top edge, right-sides facing each other. Flip and attach the forward facing side of the waistband to skirt by pinning right sides together and sew waist seam.  Press seam allowances within the waistband.  Then tack the facing by stitching "in the ditch" along the waistband bottom seam line. As for the back closure, I used an invisible zipper, which I had on hand, and two sets of hock and eye.  Follow the directions that accompany the zipper for installation.  This skirt is of the simplest making and only complicated by the use of piping to accentuate the different pieces.  So, I recommend dusting off this popular pattern and use it to create a lovely skirt.
