Every Day Outfit Series #2 {Simplicity 2599}

Pattern: Simplicity 2599
Sizing: 10 with C bust
Fabric: 1.5 yds linen
Notions: hook and eye
Assembly time: 2 hr
Instructions: nice and easy
Modification: removed flounce, no interfacing around neck, ruffle around hem
Recommend: I said it once, I’ll say it twice…great basic shirt tank.

Linen is possibly my favorite fabric to sew. I absolutely love this shirt and feel this is quintessentially me for an every day outfit during the soon approaching summer months. Thus, the shirt meets every goal for my Building an Every Day Outfit series. W-E-A-R-A-B-L-E!

I made no alternation to the standard Simplicity 2599 tank pattern other than moving the ruffles from the neckline to the bottom hem. Not wanting to add a lot of bulk, a three inch strip of fabric was cut, finished on one side, and loosely gathered. The shirt was finished per the instructions, but instead of hemming the bottom, the constructed ruffle was attached. To add a bit more roominess, I used a 1/4 inch seam allowance verses 5/8 inch.

The next shirt has already been started, and I am very excited to finish the project to show you. The pattern really does offer a world of possibilities if you use a bit of imagination. Even if you lack imagination, there are great options included.
