I made myself a new muumuu dress. Ok, so it is a bit fancier than a real Hawaiian muumuu and doesn’t look exactly like a traditional one. First, I used silky material and Simplicity pattern 2147. The pattern was VERY easy to follow, after all it is labeled "learn to sew". I lined the bodice by cutting two of the top pieces, which wasn't included in the patter. The pattern has a couple of versions, one being a shirt and one being a dress. I, of course, made the dress.
Remember how I wrote to check the length of things before cutting the fabric? Well, I didn’t do it this time. This caused a problem because the dress was too short for me! I should say it was only short because I plan to wear a belt with it. I never have this problem. To “fix” this problem, I attached a wide hem to the bottom. It works. If I make this again, I will just make the dress longer before cutting.
There is a great website that reviews patterns. The address is http://sewing.patternreview.com/. Do you have it bookmarked? I would recommend doing so. The site doesn’t have all the patterns in the world, but there are enough to be effective.
